Share Link Expiry

Set a share link to stop working after a fixed time, and extend it later.

A share link is a standing invitation: anyone holding the URL keeps the link's level for as long as it lives. A lifetime bounds that, so a link stops working on its own without you having to remember to turn it off. It complements the share password.

Choosing a lifetime

When you create a link in the Share dialog, Lasts sets its lifetime, beside Create and Copy Link. You can pick:

  • Forever, the default: the link lasts until you turn it off.
  • 1 week
  • 1 month
  • 6 months

The countdown starts when you create the link. Pick the shortest span that fits, like a week for a workshop group or a month for a plan review.

Each link in the dialog's Links list shows how long it has left, like "6d left", or Forever.

When a link's lifetime runs out, it stops opening the plan everywhere: the share URL, any embed and live image made from it, and the realtime room. People who already have the plan open lose access within a few minutes. If you need someone out straight away, turn the link off instead.

A link that has run out stays in the dialog's Links list, marked Expired. Press Extend on it, or on a link that is still counting down, to give it more time. The link keeps its address, so anyone who already has it can use it again.

To get rid of a link for good, press the bin (Turn off link).
