When a tab is set up the way you want it, locking it guards the tab itself: nobody can delete it, clear it or import something over it by accident, and a Dashboard's layout stays exactly as you left it.
Locking and unlocking a tab
Open the tab's menu (the ⋯ button on the active tab, or right-click the tab) and press the padlock button, Lock Tab, in the row of quick actions along the top. The same button reads Unlock Tab afterwards (and shows as pressed), so it toggles the tab back. A locked tab shows a small padlock before its name in the bar, so you can tell at a glance which tabs are locked.
The lock is part of the plan, so it applies to everyone who opens it, not just you. Anyone with edit access can unlock it again.
What a locked tab protects
- The tab can't be deleted until you unlock it.
- In the tab menu, Import (or Import CSV…) and Clear are greyed out, and an import started from the command palette is refused.
- A Dashboard can't be changed: its rows, slots and what they show stay put, and you see it as a Viewer does, without its settings or editing.
- The Undo and Redo buttons are greyed out on the tab.
You can still rename, duplicate or export the tab from the same menu, and move it into a folder. Duplicating gives you an unlocked copy if you want to keep building from a locked original.
What a lock leaves alone
The cards on a board and the cells of a sheet belong to the plan, not to one tab, so a lock doesn't freeze them: people can still add, edit and move cards on a locked Board tab, and type into a locked Sheet. A lock protects the tab, not the work flowing through it.
To stop someone changing anything at all, share a view-only link instead.
When to use it
- Freeze a Dashboard you've set up for a team or a review, so its layout can't be knocked out of place.
- Protect a tab you rely on from being deleted or cleared by accident.
- Hand a plan to collaborators with its set-up tabs locked, leaving the work on them free to move.
Need a fresh start from a locked tab? Duplicate it from the tab menu: the copy is unlocked and ready to change.
